Since the beginning of the year Belarusian law enforcement authorities have seized about 2 million doses of smoking drugs distributed via the internet

Since the beginning of the year drug enforcement agents of the Ministry of the Interior of Belarus have confiscated 20 kg of smoking drugs distributed through the internet. This represents approximately 2 million doses, as reported by the Ministry of the Interior.

In 2013 the State Control Committee of Belarus has stopped the export of dairy products to Russia by three illicit companies

BELTA has learned from the press service of the President that the State Control Committee of Belarus has stopped the illegal activities of three shadow companies which have been exporting dairy products to Russia during 2013. Today, Alexander Yakobson, Chairman of the State Control Committee, reported to Alexander Lukashenko, the President, the implementation of Decree No. 488 ‘On a Range of Measures for the Prevention of Illegal Minimization of Tax Liability’ aimed at controlling false company structures.

Russian colleagues render assistance to EMERCOM of Belarus for international certification

The services which comprise the Emergency Control Ministry of Belarus are preparing to gain the certification needed to join the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) under the aegis of the UN. They are being helped by colleagues from Russia who have already received certification. This was reported by Vladimir Vashchenko, the Minister for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus, at a press conference today.

Meeting of the Belarusian-Russian Joint Commission for Military and Technical Cooperation to convene on 25 – 26 July

The establishment of joint ventures, the supply of military products and collaboration within the framework of the Common Economic Space together with other topical issues were considered at the 14th session of the Belarusian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Military and Technical Cooperation which took place in Klimovsk in the Moscow Region of Russia, between 25 – 26 July. The Vietnamese Air Force plans to buy RV-01 Vostok mobile solid-state digital 2-dimensional VHF radar units manufactured in Belarus, as reported by the Centre for Analysis of the World Arms Trade, referring to sources in Vietnam and Taiwan.

As part of arms control, Romania and USA observation flight missions will take place over the territory of Belarus and Russia

In the period from 15 – 19 July observation mission flights will be conducted by Romania and the USA over the territory of the participant-states of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation as part of the Open-Sky Treaty, using a Romanian AN-30 observation aircraft.

“The Russian air base, which will be located in the Belarusian town of Lida near the Lithuanian border, does not pose any extra threat, but from a political point of view such a step would not demonstrate good will on the part of Belarus and Russia”. This statement was made in June by the Ministry of Defence of Lithuania. The exercise of “good will” by NATO Air Bases in the Baltic countries and Poland has been quietly glossed over. However the facts speak for themselves. From a small survey of the air bases in different countries of the world Portal Soyuz reached the conclusion that the negative aspects specific to many of them would not be a threat to Belarus. Apart from increased strengthening of its own defensive capacity, a lot of economic and social benefits would occur for Russia’s partner in the Union State.

The active phase of the CSTO counterterrorism exercise "Cobalt-2013" will take place on 11 July. It will be attended by: Nikolai Bordyuzha, CSTO Secretary-General, Nikolai Rogozhkin, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and Commander-in-Chief of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, as well as by representatives of the administration of the ministries of internal affairs of the CSTO member-states. This is according to a report by Vladimir Zainetdinov, the CSTO Press Secretary.

Plans to supply Belarus with four divisions of S-300 systems from Russia in 2014

It is planned to supply Belarus with four divisions of S-300 Zenith anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia in 2014. This was announced by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the RF in an interview published on the diplomatic mission website.

On 2 July a meeting was held, in Moscow, of the Steering Committee of the heads of the competent authorities of member-states of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) on combating the illegal drugs trade . It was headed by the Director of the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia, Viktor Ivanov.
